I tried to play it off cool. I stood in the lines, I drank the distributed bottled water, and I treated all the employees with respect. But I had some very dark moments during my 16 hours at JFK.

It was an amazing thing to see a massive system like JetBlue’s — a small airline as it goes — break down so terribly like I did on Friday night. Unfortunately, I was caught up in it.

There was a brief moment when I imagined the terminal turning into the Superdome. That was a pretty scary thought. I quickly went and grabbed two extra water bottles.
