Really good post on Habari and WordPress by a Habari developer. [DrBacchus' Journal]
Blog Updates
I did two things just now:
-Removed the ‘Previous Posts’ section in the sidebar. It didn’t really serve an altruistic purpose.
-Replaced the Technorati search bar on the right with a Google search bar.
New Radio Show/Schedule
My radio show this semester will be on Mondays from 1:30pm to 2:30 pm and will be known as ‘Exponential Runtime’.
So the show titles have gone like this:
Three Semesters ago: ‘Columbia AL-GO-RHYTHMS!!!’
Two Semesters ago: ‘Columbia ALGEBRA!!!’
One Semester ago: ‘Linear Runtime’
This Semester: ‘Exponential Runtime’ — I thought it worked with the style nicely.
Contrary to title this semester, my show will be quite short: only an hour. Hopefully I won’t have to dip into too much Indy Rockingness (IR) to get through the show.
Also, Ted has put the entire WBOR spring schedule up on Google Calendar nicely put the whole WBOR schedule onto Google Calendar where’s easily seen, it’s public, and it’s editable. Nice stuff. Here’s my entryHere’s my entry.

Broke a Blog; New Lights
In honor of my breaking the Northern Bites Blog today while trying to upgrade it, here is a picture of the new lighting setup we have the honor of, well, having.
There’s this great 4-Legged league paper by two NUBot guys that’s called “So Your Puppy Can’t See?” For the past few months in the lab I’ve thought about this title and been pissed off. It’s was like the title was mocking me–but not for my programming prowess. Well, now, title be damned. My puppy can see.
Pics of props for Dinosaur-Inspired Disney Restaurant
Thought these were pretty cool to see in the shop during construction. They are for a T-Rex restaurant coming to Downtown Disney sometime in the foreseeable future.
Why is Orbitz so Slow?
If Google can give me 16,700,000 hits for the word ‘peanuts‘ in 0.04 seconds, why does Orbitz take over 35 seconds to respond to a search for flights from Boston to Hanover? Has Net Neutrality been abolished and Google has paid up but Orbitz is a Scrooge? Are Google’s Engineers really 875 times smarter than Orbitz’s? Does Orbitz really just pay the underclass to input my search string manually into every airline’s website and then spit it into a spreadsheet for my viewing pleasure? Is the concept of Airline cost comparisons really beyond the scope of O(n^3) running time? I wonder.
wdw-wdw pictures
I’ve put up all three sets from the Work-Dembowski Work — Walt Disney World trip over Christmas:
Magic Kingdom — Very Merry Christmas Party ‘06 [Day 2-night]
MGM [Day 2-morning]
Animal Kingdom [Day 1]
Sadly, the rest of the days were forecasting rain and I feared too much a soggy camera. Unfortunately, they were all dry camera days.
Government Handouts or Nothin’
After Bush’s Iraq speech the other night, newspapers were forced to either take an official Bush photograph, or used a captured still from the video feed. Apparently it is not without precedent but awfully rare. Trivial or Authoritarian? (via bonkydog)
Portland Trailblazer Ultimate
I had a hard time when I first read the rec.sport.disc post entitled ‘Video: Blazers halftime ultimate exhibition’ to believe it. But the video provides irrefutable proof that indeed, ultimate frisbee, the kind that me and you know, was played at a Portland Trailblazers NBA game during halftime.
It’s amazing how lame ultimate frisbee came off to me — and I like playing ultimate frisbee. Maybe that’s just my impression.
Hassan on YouTube
Here’s an interesting video I found on YouTube — producer unknown (maybe Bowdoin?) — about Hassan Muhammad ‘10 called ‘Faces of Bowdoin: Hassan Muhammad‘. I think it should be renamed to: ‘Faces of Bowdoin Ultimate: Hassan Muhammad’.
