This is therapeutic juggling. Oh–and here’s a 11-ball flash from Peter Bone as well.

New Cable Listings
Bowdoin just got a new satellite service, and here are the new listings.
I’m with Spitzer
New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer is impressive; he’s seemingly made his office a protectorate for consumers, he’s little afraid to go after big media and big corporations, and on top of all this, he’s internet-savvy to bout. The last is most important. Internet technologies, and the ways to exploit them, and the lazy stewardship of big businesses, have dynamics that shift often. There is now a huge divide between a nation that is evermore dependent and increasingly savvy with IT technologies and the cult of leaders who find and fire blanks towards its direction. We need more Geek Politics–it’s important. Spitzer may be one of the first of the breed.
Here’s a few things Spitzer has accomplished all within the last year:
-Spitzer goes after Fortune 500 companies that tacitely use adware networks.
-Spitzer makes Intermix Media an example by suing them for using ub3r-annoying spyware…Spitzer calls spyware “fraudulent programs [that] foul machines, undermine productivity and in many cases frustrate consumers’ efforts to remove them from their computers.“
-Spitzer tries to fix why Radio sucks going after Sony Payola. Look at Nutz’ take on this.
-Just today, Spitzer fines AOHell for making it ‘unduly difficult’ to cancel its service.
Pat Robertson
Funny Stuff from rec.sport.disc:
I’ve got a $20 for anyone who will hit Pat Robertson in the head with a
disc. You know who I’m talking about, the 700 Club guy.
I’m not saying “take him out” with a golf disc or anything that heavy. [link]
Sacrilicious.
What I Want
I’ve been checking out Del.icio.us Cached, a script for Wordpress, that flashes your Del.icio.us bookmarks on the frontpage of your blog and doesn’t freak out when Del.icio.us is down (as it sometimes does). This is a very cool script–Costa has it implemented on the front of his site (or a similar type script).
The thing I mainly use Del.icio.us for is, via Firefox, to catagorize my frequent bookmarks on my toolbar and make them easily accessible by any of the computers I use. Here was the tutorial I used to set everything up, and my previous post about del.icio.us.
What I want is a blending of these things. I want a del.icio.us script specifically for blog rolling, that doesn’t freak out when del.icio.us is down. One would easily be able to create and delete catagories, and then all the sites within the categories would be added/deleted via del.icio.us, and updated via del.icio.us’ rss feeds. Granted, I’ve realized that this might not be immensely useful to all, but it could be a cool alternative to services like BlogRolling.com and such.
Sorry to flash my geek.
Mid-Atlantic Disc
A Really Huge ultimate tournament in MD next weekend (8/27, 28), the Chesapeake Open, which is bringing top talent, especially among the ‘Elite Open’ division. Even the website is snazzily done. Sucks, actually, to be in Maine to miss this.
Caution–Soft Prose Ahead
Dad, this morning, introduced me to this S.J. Pearlman find:
“It may seem arbitrary to select for one’s affection any single title from twenty catalogues full of them, yet there is something so artless, so down right dewy, about G.P. Putnam’s Sons issuing a book called Trout Fishing in New Zealand in War Time that you want to rush up to their editorial offices, tuck back their beards, and smother them with kisses. It’s a pity that so sweeping a title, embracing, as it does, sport, travel, and war, couldn’t have sneaked in a romantic complication as well, like Trout Fishing with Lana Turner in New Zealand in War Time.”
Juggling World Roundup
The Buzz this summer has been a rather large Beef. Here is the saga:
Anthony Gatto, the self and nearly-universally proclaimed ‘Greatest Juggler in the World’ puts out a billion totally sweet videos.
Jason Garfield puts out two tarting videos of spite, wit, anger, and anti-humility towards Sir Gatto. They are very long. The juggling community (and I can gauge this because I read rec.juggling) is polarized; half find them in bad taste, and half find it moderately amusing (before it gets long).
The whole effort is to rouse Gatto to perform at The WJF, the beer/juggling olympics. The competition is largely Garfield’s show, and to draw a big name among jugglers, try to knock down criticism of an absence of big names last year, and to probably stack up against the guy one-on-one, Garfield attempts to cajol Gatto to come.
Gatto scoffed the videos high-road style, and after a ‘pretty please?’ on The WJF’s main site, Gatto publically declined, politely. He’s the Michael Jordan of Juggling.
This whole thing is a bit confusing but quite dramatic. Will Gatto Attend? What will the -CRAAZZY- Jason Garfield do next? Oh the drama… It just makes me happy.
There are some pretty sick videos out there right now, here are the three videos that have defined my juggling summer:
-Dnaygs’ WJF profile video. This is just slick production through and through.
-Kristian Wanvik’s practice video. This guy throws freakishly high. But awesome.
-Anthony Gatto’s Mock WJF Seven-Ball video. This is why everyone wants him for the WJF.
Team USA
Ok, I’ve watched this nearly twenty times over the past week, I’ve got to share:
